1) Who we are

Homes Elite is an online store for home décor and lighting products. We act as a “Data Fiduciary” for your data under India’s DPDP Act, 2023. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

2) The information we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to serve you well:

Information you provide

Account details: name, email, phone, password
Addresses: shipping and billing
Orders and invoices: items purchased, price, payment method, delivery status
Support: messages, call/chat recordings where applicable
Preferences: wishlists, alerts, marketing choices
Information collected automatically

Device and log data: browser, device type, IP address, timestamps, pages viewed
Cookies/SDKs: to keep you signed in, remember cart, measure site performance, and personalise content
Information from partners (where relevant)

Payment and fraud checks from payment gateways
Delivery status from logistics providers
Analytics/ads signals from tools like Google Analytics and advertising platforms (e.g., Google/Meta)

If we ever ask for sensitive data (for example, card details), we use secure payment partners and do not store raw card numbers on our servers. Card data is tokenised per RBI rules; merchants/payment aggregators can’t store your full card details.

3) Why do we use your information

We use your data to:

Create and manage your account, process orders, handle returns and refunds
Provide customer support and resolve issues
Personalise content, recommendations, and marketing (with your consent where required)
Improve the reliability, security, and performance of our services
Prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our terms
Comply with law, taxation, audit, and regulatory requests

Under the DPDP Act, we process data for lawful purposes, based on consent or other permitted grounds (such as fulfilling your order or preventing fraud). You can withdraw consent for optional uses at any time.

4) Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies, pixels, and SDKs to keep the site working, remember your cart, and understand how people use our pages so we can improve them. You can manage cookies in your browser settings. If we use Google Analytics, Google provides regional processing controls and documentation that you can review.

5) Sharing your information

We don’t sell your data. We share it only with:

Service providers*acting on our instructions (payment processors, banks, fraud-prevention tools, cloud/hosting, analytics, email/SMS providers, couriers)
Business operations*such as auditors, professional advisors, and customer support tools
Legal/regulatory bodies, when required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public

All such partners are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations consistent with Indian law.

6) Payments and card security

Payments are processed by PCI-DSS-compliant gateways. We do not store your full card number, expiry, or CVV. India’s tokenisation framework means card details are stored securely by accredited providers, and merchants/aggregators cannot store your card data.

7) Delivery and logistics

To deliver your order and handle returns, we share shipment details (name, address, phone, order items) with trusted logistics partners.

8) Your rights (India)

Under the DPDP Act, you can:

Access a summary of your data and how we process it
Correct/Update*inaccurate or incomplete data
Erase*data when it’s no longer needed or when you withdraw consent (unless we must keep it by law)
Grievance redressal through our Grievance Officer
Nominate another person to exercise your rights if you’re unable to do so

To exercise these rights, use the methods in Contact & Grievance*below. We’ll respond per applicable timelines and rules.

9) Children’s data

We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we’ll take appropriate action. The DPDP Act requires heightened protections for children, including restrictions on tracking/targeted ads.

10) Data retention

We keep data only as long as necessary to provide services, comply with legal, accounting, or tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify it.

11) Security

We use technical and organisational measures like encryption in transit, access controls, monitoring, backups, and regular reviews. Implementing ISO/IEC 27001-aligned controls is one recognised way to meet “reasonable security practices” under India’s IT Rules. No system is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and quickly address issues.

12) International transfers

We primarily store and process data in India. Where data is transferred across borders (for example, to a cloud provider or analytics vendor), we do so under lawful transfer mechanisms and contractual safeguards consistent with Indian law.

13) Marketing choices

You control whether you receive marketing emails/SMS/notifications. Use unsubscribe links, account settings, or contact us to opt out. Transactional messages (order confirmations, shipping updates) will still be sent.

14) Third-party links and marketplaces

Our site may link to third-party sites or services. Their privacy practices are their own—please review their policies. Large Indian marketplaces publish clear grievance and privacy contacts; that “layered” approach is a best practice we follow here as well.

15) Contact & data requests

Privacy queries/requests:*\[[privacy@homeselite.in](mailto:privacy@homeselite.in)]
Data access/correction/erasure:*Email us with the subject “Data Request – Homes Elite” from your registered email, or use \[Account → Privacy].
Nominating a representative:*Email us with “Nomination – Homes Elite” and attach a signed authorisation.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on requests to protect your account.

16) Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page when we make material changes and note the effective date above. For significant changes, we may also notify you via email or in-app notice, consistent with common industry practice.
